Un nombre croissant de personnes atteintes de d\u00e9mence vivent \u00e0 domicile, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement avec un soutien important de leurs proches. N\u00e9anmoins, l’accompagnement d’un proche malade est loin d’\u00eatre simple. Au travers son projet de recherche financ\u00e9 par notre Fondation gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 votre soutien, Charl\u00e8ss Dupont (VUB<\/a>) \u00e9tudie comment faciliter cet accompagnement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

STOP ALZHEIMER : Quel est votre parcours ?<\/em>
Je suis infirmi\u00e8re de formation avec une expertise en communication et en politique de sant\u00e9. Actuellement, je travaille en tant que chercheuse \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 libre de Bruxelles. Mes recherches portent principalement sur la d\u00e9mence, la communication et les soins palliatifs. C\u2019\u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 mon domaine pendant ma th\u00e8se, o\u00f9 je me concentrais sur le soutien et l\u2019implication des personnes atteintes
de d\u00e9mence et de leurs proches dans les discussions sur les soins et les traitements futurs, en mettant l\u2019accent sur la planification pr\u00e9alable des soins. En outre, j\u2019explore l\u2019utilisation de la technologie pour soutenir ce processus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


STOP ALZHEIMER : Pouvez-vous d\u00e9crire le projet financ\u00e9 par notre Fondation ?<\/em>
Un nombre croissant de personnes atteintes de d\u00e9mence vivent \u00e0 domicile, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement avec un soutien important de leurs proches. En raison de leurs besoins complexes en mati\u00e8re de soins, ils doivent souvent naviguer dans un syst\u00e8me de soins fragment\u00e9, passant d\u2019un prestataire de soins \u00e0 un autre. D\u2019autres font face \u00e0 un acc\u00e8s limit\u00e9 aux soins en raison d\u2019un manque de connaissances ou d\u2019informations sur les services disponibles. Par cons\u00e9quent, les soins aux personnes atteintes de d\u00e9mence sont souvent sous-optimaux. Dans cette recherche, nous \u00e9valuons l\u2019impact d\u2019un \u00ab navigateur de soins \u00bb form\u00e9 – souvent un volontaire – en tant que point de contact principal pour le patient\/la famille via des consultations t\u00e9l\u00e9phoniques r\u00e9guli\u00e8res et des visites \u00e0 domicile. Les navigateurs facilitent l\u2019acc\u00e8s appropri\u00e9
aux soins et aux services dans leur propre quartier. Des recherches r\u00e9centes men\u00e9es aux \u00c9tats-Unis et au
Canada ont montr\u00e9 que ce mod\u00e8le fonctionne et pourrait \u00e9galement \u00eatre utile ici. Dans ce projet, nous adaptons le mod\u00e8le \u00e0 notre contexte. Avec une \u00e9quipe multidisciplinaire, nous testons son potentiel et \u00e9tudions comment ex\u00e9cuter au mieux la navigation des soins et quels pourraient \u00eatre ses effets potentiels.

STOP ALZHEIMER : Comment se d\u00e9roule actuellement le projet et quelle serait la meilleure issue ?<\/em>
Nous examinons actuellement comment renforcer les initiatives dans notre pays avec des interventions et des recherches existantes sur les navigateurs en provenance des \u00c9tats-Unis et du Canada. Pour cela, nous collaborons avec diff\u00e9rents partenaires actifs dans le domaine de la d\u00e9mence. Avec ce projet, nous visons \u00e0 contribuer \u00e0 une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 inclusive plus int\u00e9gr\u00e9e, o\u00f9 les personnes atteintes de d\u00e9mence et leur entourage acc\u00e8dent en temps opportun aux soins appropri\u00e9s, souhait\u00e9s et efficaces (de tous types, allant des soins psychosociaux aux soins m\u00e9dicaux).<\/strong> Le projet est bas\u00e9 sur les capacit\u00e9s et les soins existants au niveau du quartier, avec un accent particulier sur les personnes les plus vuln\u00e9rables de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9.

STOP ALZHEIMER : \u00c9tait-il important que cette recherche soit financ\u00e9e par Stop Alzheimer, la Fondation Recherche Alzheimer ?<\/em>
Le soutien \u00e0 la recherche sur la d\u00e9mence est souvent orient\u00e9 vers la d\u00e9couverte de ses causes ou d\u2019un traitement qui pourrait assurer une gu\u00e9rison totale. Tant que ce dernier n\u2019existe pas, nous avons surtout besoin de bons soins. \u00c0 partir de recherches ant\u00e9rieures, nous savons que, entre autres en raison des soins fragment\u00e9s, les personnes atteintes de d\u00e9mence vivant \u00e0 domicile sont souvent confront\u00e9es \u00e0 des transitions de soins importantes, menant \u00e0 une prise en charge moins opti male et qui pourrait ne pas correspondre aux valeurs et pr\u00e9f\u00e9rences du malade. En restant \u00e0 domicile, les patients ont \u00e9galement jusqu\u2019\u00e0 4x de chances d\u2019\u00eatre hospitalis\u00e9es et de telles hospitalisations sont souvent associ\u00e9es \u00e0
des cons\u00e9quences n\u00e9gatives non intentionnelles (comme l\u2019anxi\u00e9t\u00e9, le d\u00e9clin fonctionnel et cognitif, et des
co\u00fbts \u00e9conomiques \u00e9lev\u00e9s). Avec ce projet pilote, nous faisons un pas dans la bonne direction pour
aider les personnes atteintes de d\u00e9mence et leurs proches \u00e0 mieux naviguer dans notre syst\u00e8me de
